Stolen quad bike sparks police chase across Cardiff
By Caroline Cook and Fiona Roberts
A high-speed car chase shattered the calm of Llandaff High Street at 4.30pm as a stolen quad bike ploughed into a parked car.
A police helicopter and six police cars raced after the quad bike when they were alerted to a vehicle behaving suspiciously. They chased the bike to the junction between Bridge Street and Fairwater Road where the thief crashed into the parked Audi (Street View).
Local residents helped police track down the runaway driver when he attempted to escape, ditching his hoodie in a bid to disguise himself. A traffic police officer chased after the thief and took him into custody.
PCSO Dan Jones said: “One of our officers got out of the police car and removed the keys from the quad bike as a precaution.”
Jonathan Puzey, customer assistant at Spar in Llandaff High Street, said: “People came out onto the high street and were like, ‘What on earth has happened?’”

The quad bike driver, believed to be in his 20s, was remanded in custody this afternoon and the quad bike is due to undergo forensic testing before it can be reunited with its owner.
The collision resulted in some damage to the Audi, including a dented bumper and smashed lights.
The police helicopter was also heard above Cathays and the city centre at around 8pm this evening. Did you see it? Please email us at capturecardiff@googlemail.com, or comment below.
